A fuss-free guide to Disney and vacation planning

DVC and A Disney Blog: We’re All In

There are a million reasons not to do something. Why start a blog now, when the internet is overflowing with influencers, travel sites and Disney adults? And why keep going back to Disney when it’s so expensive and you could travel anywhere? It’s so easy to convince myself of what other people might think or criticize, and just…let the ideas slide.

I don’t jump into anything without a lot of thought (remember I mentioned I’m an over researcher? I’m also an over thinker…). Ethan is the one who comes up with big ideas and shoots for the moon, I’m the wet blanket who brings him back to earth. But this time I had some big reasons to go all in, and hopefully my reasons will convince you to stick around, too.

  1. Because I (we) Love It.

The timing of this blog lines up with our decision to buy our first Disney Vacation Club contract. I think purchasing the next 50 years of vacations really cemented it for us–we’re all in and we’re going to make the most of it!

Why did we buy into DVC? Because we love it. It’s our place where we go to focus on each other and our kids, and be at our best.  We love that Disney does things with excellence and cares about every detail we experience. We love the free transportation and the endless restaurant and shopping options. For us it has actually become our “happiest place on earth.” It’s our place worth returning to.

  2. Disney is expensive, but not more expensive

This one was the kicker for me. Disney is expensive, there’s no denying it, but it’s not significantly more expensive than other entertainment. Where I live in the midwest, people who want to invest in vacation time buy a 5th-wheel camper or a boat, or if they’re really all in, lake property.  My DVC contract did not cost more than a camper, and it gives the years of vacation I’d get from a lake property.  A meal at a Disney quick service like Satu’li Canteen is not more than a meal at the Omaha Zoo. Even our Magic Kingdom tickets on our recent trip, as expensive as they are, cost only $2 more per ride than purchasing the same number of carnival ride tickets at our hometown Tulip Festival. At some point, it’s just where we choose to spend our entertainment dollars.

  3. For Me…But for You Too.

I wanted a place where I could collect my information, and a place where I could share all of my Disney experiences without worrying about overloading the social media feeds of people who don’t care. If you aren’t interested in Disney content but want to keep seeing the awesome things my kids are up to, you don’t have to follow No Capes.

But I hope if you’ve come here looking for information, you find it. I hope my posts cut through some of the internet noise, all the Disney politics and click-bait headlines, and just give you the information you’re looking for. I do Disney with very little stress, and I want that to be your experience, too.

So there’s my 3 big reasons why we bought DVC, and why I’m using that to jump-start a blog right now.  Use the buttons in the header to connect with us on social media, and let us know what parts of Disney you’d like to be a little more fuss-free! We’ll try to tackle them here for you.
