Fuss Free 102: Booking Your Resort

Saratoga-Springs-from-Disney-Springs-boat

Let’s talk about Booking your Resort.

We’ve finished up our 101 series! Check it out here for as-simple-as-it-gets Disney planning information. So, welcome to our new series, Fuss Free 102! This is going to be a how-to series, with lots of screen shots and links to help walk you through the nuts and bolts of planning your Disney trip. If you’re feeling overwhelmed by navigating the My Disney Experience app, or aren’t sure when to book online or if you’ll have better luck if you call Disney direct then this is the series for you.

There are many things in this series that a Disney Travel Agent  can book for you, so we’ll be sure to let you know that, also. And we’ll drop the info of some of our favorite Disney Travel Agents along the way. (Are you a Disney Travel Agent? Connect with us on Instagram, we’d be happy to include you as a resource!)

Today I will go through a step-by-step of how to book a resort through the Disney website

How To Book A Disney Resort

  1. Go to disneyworld.disney.go.comDisney World home page
  2. Fill in your trip information at the boxes at the top of the screen. If your dates are flexible, choose something close. You will be able to look at different dates later to see what might be the cheapest. Click the “View Rates” button. Room booking Disney world resorts page
  3. From here you can scroll through the different resorts and see their rates per night. Don’t like what you see? Try changing your dates or group size at the top of the page. You can also toggle between room price per night and a package price which includes your room for the number of nights you selected plus park tickets. Click on a resort choice to view details of that resort. Resort booking Disney World room selection
  4. Here you can click the tabs at the top to learn more about the resort– view photos, check out dining options, look at the pool and other amenities. Resort booking room selection Disney World
  5. Scroll down to see different room types and prices. You can also click on the little blue “view room photos” to see pictures of each room type. Click on the option you think best fits your group. Resort booking Disney World add park tickets
  6. You’ll be given the option to add park tickets for as many days as you want. Note the warnings to double check park reservations before you decide how many tickets you want. While Room reservations can be changed, a lot of times ticket purchases are not refundable or transferrable, so be very sure you know what you want before moving forward. You can also add modifications like park hopper or the waterpark option at the bottom of this page, or choose to skip adding your park tickets at this time. Disney world resort booking checkout
  7. Finally, you’ll be taken to the checkout page. Here you can add Memory Maker (the Disney photo service) or ground transportation, as well as making some final edits before choosing payment options for your resort.

Conclusion

Really this process is just following the step by step instructions on this page. But it’s not always super-intuitive how many options there are in each category. Also, the system can be really glitchy. It took me multiple tries to get the screen grabs for this post because I couldn’t get the information I wanted to show up consistently.

This is the best time to get your favorite Disney Travel Agent involved. Tell them what you want to do and let them figure out all of the fussy stuff I described above. I have really enjoyed working with Jessica and Mike at Swan and Sparrow Travel, so if you need a place to start, give them a call!

But if you like the planning and you’re determined to do this by yourself, I’ll be here to walk you through the process, step by step, in the rest of our Fuss Free Series!
