An Enchanting Experience at the Enchanted Rose

grand-floridian-enchanted-rose-cogsworth

Enchanted Rose is the lounge located in Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa. It’s a Beauty and the Beast themed bar with themed signature cocktails and some tasy bites. This is one of the most (if not the most) expensive bars on Disney property, but the atmosphere and the quality of the cocktails earn the high price tag.

We made our most recent trip to Enchanted Rose as part of an adults-only Disney trip in October of 2022. We started our trip with a Monorail bar crawl, and Enchanted Rose landed right in the middle – after Trader Sam’s Tiki Terrace and before Geyser Point.

Visiting Enchanted Rose around 5:15 in the afternoon, we were able to walk right in and grabbed some lounge seating around a coffee table in the library. We each ordered an adult beverage and decided to split an appetizer. Keep reading to find out how I rated what we ate and drank!

1. Enchanted Rose – Food

You’ll be looking at a fairly limited menu (as Disney dining goes, anyway) at Enchanted Rose. They’ve got a couple of snacks and a handful of appetizers available to eat with your beverage of choice (see below). The food at Enchanted Rose is not available all day – the kitchen is only open from 5:00 – 10:00 (as of this writing).

Since this lounge is located in Disney’s Grand Floridian resort, everything is upscale, including the food. But at $115, nothing on the food menu is as expensive as the caviar.

Unfortunately, we’re not independently wealthy. Also, I find the idea of caviar to be super weird. So, we didn’t order the caviar. Instead, we got the truffle fries.

Appetizer: Truffle Fries

French fries are my go-to snack all over Disney World, especially in the lounges and at the park quick service locations. Who doesn’t love french fries? But there are a few places that you have to get the fries, and Enchanted Rose is on that list.

As much as I love french fries, at No Capes, we love truffle fries even more. This version of this amazing appetizer consists of french fries with black truffle oil and aged parmesan and a side of garlic truffle aioli. I’m drooling just thinking about them.

While I do love the truffle fries here, the food menu is fairly limited. We haven’t tried nearly everything on the menu, but we’ve also only visited the Enchanted Rose twice when the kitchen was open. The limited hours and limited menu options knock this location down a notch or two. And as good as the truffle fries are, they aren’t even the best truffle fries on property.

Food rating: 7

2. Enchanted Rose – Beverages

The Enchanted Rose is a lounge (that’s Disney-speak for “bar”), so you can expect to see an extensive list of drink options. They’ve got featured cocktails, grand cocktails, a separate list of various martinis, a lengthy wine list, and a full bar for all your imbibing needs. With four adults, we had the following four different beverages.

enchanted-rose-side-car-cocktail

Our friend, Travis, ordered the Side Car. According to the Enchanted Rose menu, this cocktail is made with Remy Martin VSOP Cognac, Cointreau, Lemon, and Agave. Travis described it as a refreshing variation of a sour with the brandy and the Cointreau., and I agree. This was a very citrus-y, booze-y selection. Lots of bright citrus notes tempered by the warmth of the cognac.

Our other friend, Tami, ordered a glass of riesling. Tami would describe herself as “knowing nothing about wine,” but she enjoyed this German riesling. It tasted of green apple and pear.

lavender-fog-enchanted-rose

Amber ordered her favorite cocktail in all of Disney World: the Lavender Fog. I would call this drink creamy and lightly sweet, but not my…(wait for it)…cup of tea. Amber says the Lavender Fog has eathy, herbal notes from the tea, but that the flavor is predominantly lavender. Amber particularly likes that it’s creamy but not heavy. Plus, look how pretty it is!

classic-old-fashioned-grand-floridian

My drink was (drumroll please) the old fashioned. I opted for the classic version of this drink rather than the seasonal old fashioned mostly for cost savings (after all, this was just the second of four stops on this bar crawl). I like the way I make old fashioneds at home (two sugar cubes, a little water, generous bitters, and high quality bourbon), but the Enchanted Rose old fashioned improved on that by using sugar in the raw instead of white sugar. That plus the garnish of black cherries plussed this old fashioned up nicely.

Altogether, everyone was thrilled with their drinks. Next time I’m looking forward to trying the seasonal old fashioned instead!

3. Enchanted Rose – Atmosphere

enchanted-rose-library-artwork

This place is stunning. Really, truly beautiful. There are three rooms, including the iconic bar with a chandelier inspired by Belle’s ballgown, the forest room with stylized tables, lighting fixtures, and a mural inspired by the Black Forest, and the library with its fireplace, replicas of Lumiere, Cogsworth, and the enchanted rose all inspired by Belle’s library.

This bar is as themed as any ride in any of the Disney World parks. But it’s not overdone or kitschy. This is a lounge you can sit in for two hours without ordering any alcohol and be completely happy. We love it, and we plan to go back (after all – I need that seasonal old fashioned).

Atmosphere Rating: 10

Conclusion

When I added up my scores for each of the three categories, I was surprised to see the total come in as low as it did. I think the reason this rating is a bit lower than expected is we didn’t try anything too intense in the drink department.

Despite the limited menu, the food options are excellent. The drinks are high quality craft cocktails with something for every palate. And the atmosphere is second to none. Check out Enchanted Rose the next time you’re in Disney World!
